Neunkirchen/Siegerland May 31, 2022 - The logistics industry faces many challenges: Urbanization and increasing traffic are making deliveries in city centers more difficult. At the same time, more and more people are ordering products online for subsequent delivery as quickly as possible and, at best, sustainably. The pandemic has further intensified this development. These megatrends require sustainable, technologically innovative solutions for logistics. In the newly founded Enterprise Lab, SSI SCHAEFER, one of the world's largest providers of intralogistics solutions, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML, want to jointly research innovations for the future of logistics.

As a partner for sustainable logistics, SSI SCHAEFER has been active on the market for years. The sustainability strategy approved in fall 2021 will be implemented step by step. It will be presented together with the Sustainability Report 2021, which will be published in summer 2022. The EDEKA Group of Companies Northern Bavaria-Saxony-Thuringia is expanding its regional warehouse at the Gochsheim location and is relying on an automated solution from SSI SCHAEFER. The new automatic high-bay warehouse with a connected conveying system has been in operation since June 2021 and makes optimum use of the available space. The new intralogistics solution, including customized software, has significantly simplified the picking processes. This means that the location is ideally equipped for the future, and EDEKA can efficiently supply the local stores from here.

The scalable flat pack picking solution from SSI SCHAEFER is designed for fully automatic, efficient picking of heavy and bulky goods with gantry robots.

Flat Pack Picking is a unique, automated turnkey system solution, from a single source. In Landau a. d. Isar in Germany, Einhell's new flagship logistics center was officially put into operation on November 12, 2021. The impressive, fully automated 43 meter high high-bay warehouse and was realized by SSI SCHAEFER as general contractor for the entire intralogistics. With the new distribution center, the leading manufacturer of state-of-the-art tools for home and garden has created the necessary conditions to handle the accelorating increasing number of orders in the long term in a sustainable, efficient, and fast way.

In Sportisimo’s selection process, the intralogistics expertise offered by SSI SCHAEFER scored points with the sporting goods retailer, and subsequently the contract was awarded to them: Sportisimo’s newly built distribution center in Hrušov/Ostrava, Czech Republic, will be equipped with an automated intralogistics solution by SSI SCHAEFER. The hall will be built on brownfield land in Contera Park Ostrava D1. In addition to supplying both branches, the new distribution center will also supply Sportisimo customers who have placed orders through the online store. The future solution will focus on the automation aspect.

The WAMAS® warehouse management system by SSI SCHAEFER has been proving its worth at LANDI Schweiz AG's central warehouse in Dotzigen since 2003. At the end of November 2020, the latest high-performance generation of WAMAS went live, marking the completion of a top-class retrofit. The 'big bang' involved all manual and automatic processes being switched over in parallel on the very same day, skipping two software generations at once.

The European logistics center of Misumi in Frankfurt features the latest technology from SSI SCHAEFER which was implemented in 2020. The Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) has successfully validated SSI SCHAEFER software in the validation of Warehouse Management System (WMS) solutions. With the help of the manufacturer-independent "WMS Online Selection", Fraunhofer IML supports companies in selecting the optimal suitable WMS and provider.
